I have always been somewhat averse to the life sciences. Give me physics over botany any day! Quantum mechanics, however, is not terribly helpful when trying to identify a tree. I know the difference between evergreen and deciduous but beyond that my ignorance asserts itself. Thanks to my good friend Google, though, there is hope. The National Arbor Day Foundation provides a neat and educational tool to help with the tree classification process called What tree is that? Using our eyes, fingers and a mouse, the kids and I figured out that we think the tree we're building in is a California Live Oak. If you know more about trees than I do (which is likely) and you think differently, please let me know.
